Mrs. Stawska-Höbel held a lecture on February 26th, 2014 on the subject: “German-Polish economic relations, conclusion of contracts with German business partners” in Pila/Poland (I. Wirtschaftsforum/I. FORUM GOSPODARCZE).
Mrs. Magdalena Stawska-Höbel participated in the “3. Außenwirtschaftstag - Architecture, Planning and Construction” in the Foreign Office on February 18th, 2014. As a podium hostess at the workshop “Poland” Mrs. Stawska-Höbel has reported about the construction industry in Poland and about the statutory provisions in Poland.
The Federal Fiscal Court has recently clarified the issue of tax approval of labor contracts with close relatives and stated as follows: employment contracts with close relatives are generally recognized for tax purposes if the contract is valid under civil law and common in the market and if the service agreed on (payment of the salary on the one hand side and activity of the employee on the other hand side) is actually provided. According to the recent decision of the Federal Fiscal Court it is not harmful, if the employee works more than agreed. The presentation of time sheets is also not required. It would be harmful, if the employee would work less.

Mr. Henning von Zanthier participated from October 15th to 18th in business delegation through the hotspots of Poland’s games industry, organized by Berlin Partner GmbH in cooperation with media.net berlinbrandenburg e.V. The trip was an opportunity for the participating companies for finding new cooperation partners in Poland. Henning von Zanthier gave during the business delegation lectures about legal aspect of cooperation between German and Polish IT-companies, IT-specialists and public institutions.

The date for the introduction of the SEPA direct debit is approaching: On February 1st, 2014 the national payment systems will be turned off. On that date a transition to the SEPA payment system will occur.
The associated changes require a high conversion effort in many organizations. According to the recommendation of the German Central Bank, companies should apply for and receive the necessary creditor identification number until the end of October. Prof. Dr. Wojciech Stiller from the Berlin School of Economics and Law works from the 1st September 2013 as an independent consultant for our law firm and will combine the academic approach and the practical experience in the field of tax law.
